FOLLOW THOSE FLOATINGS

“You aren’t the end of my love, but its awakening, its beginning. I give this love away, to the flowers along the path, to the glitter of sunlight in my wine glass, to the red onion of the church tower .You make it possible for me to love the world.”

— Hermann Hesse

I found a video from my albums, I traced the path of the floating objects in the video, traded this route as my guide lines to walking in the city. Everytime I walking I take another one and traced one new path, follow a new route to take a new video. Again and again. When I started this project, I did not try to explore or explain who I am. I tried instead to give an explanation of the things I love.

I walk alone on my route, and I begin to care about the wind, care about the cloud, care about shadows, and to care about all these foating natural objects. They are not static, I can feel them. I enjoy these quiet moments that awaken my imagination.

Caring about these moments fills every minute of my life. Each piece of nature I see is a different drawing. The shape of a cloud, the movement of water, the shadow of the tree, and birds flying. These moments of nature may be either a chance encounter or purposefully come into my life. They are so ubiquitous, so warm, so exciting, and I am so full of imagination. I want to catch them, I always let them go. I do not try to question anything; I am just immersed in that moment.

I thought this would help me start to understand myself, I don’t want to get an exact answer of  “who am I?” anymore.
I hoped I could know more about myself through those explanations of these natural things, as I thought all these things defined me. They would come together to be my “path”. It’s like all the things I go through in life. It’s my path.  Those things made me who I am.
